Brief
This project, located in Stockholm's refined Östermalm district, was commissioned by a freelance journalist who required a multifunctional living area that could transition from a bright morning workspace to a tranquil evening sanctuary.
The architectural bones of the apartment—high ceilings and large-format windows—provided the perfect canvas for a study in light-filtering. We focused on a "soft-tech" integration, where the television and digital interfaces are balanced by organic textures and life-affirming greenery.
The functional goal was to create a sense of expansive airiness within a modest urban footprint, utilizing clever zoning through furniture placement rather than physical partitions.
Concept
Inspired by the concept of Lagom—not too much, not too little—the aesthetic is rooted in a monochromatic base layered with natural fibers. A central white pedestal table acts as a clean, bright work surface, flanked by classic ladder-back chairs featuring olive-toned linen cushions.
The lighting is the room's sculptural soul; a large, woven rattan globe pendant provides a textured focal point that diffuses light in an organic pattern across the white-washed walls.
Touches of black metal in the shelving and side tables provide the necessary "visual weight" to ground the ethereal palette, while the Monstera Deliciosa introduces a bold, architectural green that connects the interior to the natural world outside.
