Brief
Situated within a converted 19th-century warehouse along the Prinsengracht, this residence was designed for a young couple in the creative industry who desired a bold, conversational dining environment.
The project sought to move away from the "white box" trope of typical renovations, instead embracing a moody, sophisticated tonal palette that reflects the grey-blue light of the North Sea.
The layout was optimized for intimate evening hosting, prioritizing a deep, built-in banquette that maximizes seating without encroaching on the room's footprint. The result is a space that feels like a private members' club—enveloping, rich, and unapologetically expressive.
Concept
The concept, "Nocturnal Elegance," is driven by a saturated wall color in a custom-blended dusty plum, providing a dramatic backdrop for a curated collection of contemporary art.
We utilized a mix of high-gloss glass accents and matte textiles to create depth; a forest green glass vase and a matching decanter act as jewels within the room.
The furniture selection bridges the gap between industrial heritage and modern luxury, featuring chrome-framed chairs with warm wood backs and a sleek, expandable laminate table. Underfoot, a plush, high-pile silver rug provides a sensory counterpoint to the sharp lines of the furniture, ensuring the acoustics remain soft and inviting for late-night conversation
